Reason Behind All The Madness

Reason Behind All The Madness

After returning from Tanzania, we made a beeline for Vegas since Angela’s never been. For us, Vegas has always just been an overnight stop between home and our hiking destinations. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything else to see while in town. Walking through all the hotels for the decor and installations is a visually exhilarating experience.

These colorful boulders, located southwest of the strip, are the brainchild of Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone.

There was an ulterior motive for me to bring the family on this trip – mattress running for Hyatt status. I’m currently an “Explorist”, which allows me to status match to MGM Gold, giving me free parking at all MGM establishments. Once matched to MGM Gold, I can match to Caesars Diamond. All this status, without placing a single bet at the casinos.

Caesars Diamond allows me to jump the line at the Bacchanal Buffet without needing a reservation. This served us well, because the other option was to eat at a godawfully late hour of 8:30pm.

I am currently 4 nights short of Hyatt’s “Globalist” status, my ultimate goal. And I should reach it 2 weeks from now after our trip to Yosemite and Napa.

    1. I try to go back to Yosemite whenever I get a chance, even if it’s just passing through on Tioga pass. Vegas isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it is a great pit stop for food and a comfy bed after several days of hiking in the desert.
