FIRE, short for Financial Independence, Retire Early. I still remember 12 years ago, pen in hand, sitting at the kitchen island in our cookie cutter Tucson suburban home, listing the PROs and CONs of having children. At the top of the CONs list was “early retirement”. We knew we did not want to slave away until age 65 before we start to travel the world. We did not want to wait until we had neither the desire nor energy to do so. So for the next 12 years, we worked hard, saved, and invested, and now here we are, retired at 47. Some people say, “You’re too young to retire.” But I say, “Let the next chapter begin!”
