The 4 nights we spent in Kuala Lumpur were split between Mandarin Oriental and the Grand Hyatt, located right next door. The Amex FHR booking for MO provided amenities such as free breakfast, welcome gift, room upgrade, $100 dining/spa credit, and 4-pm checkout, while the Hyatt globalist status had very similar, but better, benefits. Upon arrival at the GH, we were whisked away from general check-in, and led to the Club lounge floor for private check-in. I had hoped for a suite upgrade. Unfortunately, with the long weekend there were no suites available. However, we did get an upgrade to a tower view room, similar to what we had gotten at MO.
One of the unique globalist benefits is club lounge access, which is only available at Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency properties. Aside from free breakfast, there is mid-day and evening refreshments bordering on an actual meal. One can theoretically have all three meals at the club lounge, but that would defeat our purpose to Malaysia.

Unlike the others, this was a hotel I didn’t want to leave, but we have one more night at the Grand Hyatt before flying back to Taiwan. Hopefully, we’ll get a chance at a suite.
