This is it! Andaz Bali is likely our favorite hotel ever. We made the switch over from the Hyatt Regency Bali next door in time for my birthday. This hotel opened during the pandemic, so the hard products are still very much brand new.
A surprise birthday cake presented to me by Hyatt Regency Bali on the morning of our checkout. I wonder if they do this for all their guests, but a nice gesture despite the fact that I find being sung “Happy Birthday” to both in private and public to be super cringe…
Moving next door was easy. Our luggage was transported over for us, and we just needed to walk through the Hyatt Regency spa and fitness facility, which both hotels share, to reach the Andaz property for check in.

Without any prompting (OK, maybe I did mention that we were switching over for my birthday, but they had specifically asked if we were celebrating any special occasions on the pre-arrival survey), we were automatically upgraded to the 1,000+ square feet Andaz Suite.
The village square is where all the activities, including breakfast, take place. Breakfast is served a la carte, and is hands down the best hotel breakfast we’ve had on this trip so far. You can order as much or as little as you want. Definitely a much more civilized approach compared to the breakfast buffet setup at the other hotels.Breakfast menuBubur SuroOnsen eggBedugul berriesSteamed dumplings Croissant madameSoufflé pancake Just a few items we remembered to take pictures of.One of the restaurant venues Andaz’s grounds are more appealing than that of HR’s.Feels like HawaiiTwelve one-bedroom villas surround this pond, tucked away from the rest of the grounds. There are also 4 two-bedroom beachfront villas, for a total of 149 rooms on this relatively small boutique property.Beautiful silver colored koi in the pondSome of the flowers you’ll see around the property.
Andaz has managed to fit in a few pools – none of which we’ve ventured into. The idea of baking and soaking no longer appeals to me. I have enough wrinkles to last me for the next half century.

As for our room, it was as far away from the hubbub as possible.
Large living spaceDuring evening turn downs, staff will close all doors to the bedroom to keep the room as cold as possible to ensure a good nights sleep. Absolutely brilliant move.Spacious bathroom I can seen the stone floor tiles not age quite as well over time. This is the best part about the bathroom. Fellow bidet users will appreciate that this is no ordinary washlet. It’s a TOTO. An absolute welcome sight after leaving Japan almost 2 months ago, and roughing it ever since.A separate half bath also equipped with a washlet.Large terraceFree-to-raid minibar (minus the alcoholic drinks). Everything consumed is restocked the following morning. Two birthday cakes in a day! Never have had that happen before. This one was delivered to our room, and luckily no “Happy Birthday” tunes accompanied this cake. The patterns and colors in the room contrast against the dark stones, creating a cozy and aesthetically pleasing feel.Fisherman’s Club is one of four onsite restaurants. The Andaz executive chef brings with him 15 years of experience at high end Hyatt properties (in Berlin, Amsterdam, Seoul, and Tokyo), and it shows in the quality of food that is served.Grilled seafood platter at Fisherman’s ClubThe requisite birthday steak dinner at the Asian steakhouse, FireFox. We love it so much here that we cancelled our hotel reservation in Manggis to return to Andaz later this month, and we highly recommend this hotel to anyone who plans to stay in the Sanur area.
